Staff Bios

Theo Zagar has been playing soccer for over 25 years starting at the age of 4.

Beginning his soccer career in the East York Soccer Club, Theo then moved to playing with the North York Cosmos at the youth level. During this time he was chosen to participate for U-14 & U-15 Provincial Team.

Theo had stayed in Toronto to play for the University of Toronto Varsity Blues Men’s Teams where he had many accomplishments which included the Record for Most Shutouts in a Season (1997), 3-time OUA 1st Team All-star, OUA MVP (1997) and most of all CIAU (CIS) Player of the Year (1997).

Before heading to the professional level, Theo played with the Scarborough Azzurri/Blues in OSL where he won 2 Ontario Cup Championships and a National Silver Medal. Now, Theo has been playing for 7 years at the professional level, where he currently plays in the United States and also in the Canadian National Team Player Pool.

Theo has been teaching and coaching young goalkeepers for over 10 years locally, and he enjoys sharing his knowledge and expertise to develop the #1 position on the field, The GK.

Coaching & Other Qualifications: Bachelor of Physical & Health Education, University of Toronto. OSA Provincial ‘B’ Coaching License, CSA National ‘B’ Coaching License, OSA Goalkeeping Certificate, ORSA Referees’ License (Level 3), Certified Personal Trainer (CPT).

Current Coaching Positions: Technical Co-ordinator – East York Soccer Club, Development Director & Head GK Coach – Oakville Soccer Club, Head GK Coach – Sigma Soccer.

Past Coaching Experience: Ryerson University Head GK Coach (2007), OSA Assistant/Goalkeeper Coach (2005-2006),
CSA National Training Centre Goalkeeper Coach (2005-2006), University of Toronto Assistant Coach (1999-2001), he also worked with different local soccer clubs to structure their GK Programs.
